My conceptual work is commonly concerned with scientific, psychological and socio-cultural issues which I explore through surreal and symbolic execution. Through conveying inter-connectivity juxtaposed with fragmentation or partially revealed detail, I aim to aptly create atmospheric scenes that signify how humankind must constantly navigate through our evolving biology, psychology and environment.
My landscape work aims to capture a scene as if it were a memory or dream by abstractly and playfully depicting a kind of kinetic energy throughout.
Born in England, raised in Guernsey and drawing before I could walk, I discovered that communicating and thinking through the visual is an intrinsic part of who I am. Throughout school it was art that held sway over my aspirations and interests, the opportunity to explore and express visually resonated with me profoundly.
Upon entering the world of employment I worked for the award winning jewellery designer Catherine Best in the Channel Islands where I had a fantastic experience combining my hand-crafting skills with design, Catherine was very encouraging and has an admirable robust positive spirit. A fews years later my desire to become an artist once again came calling and I left for the UK to study for BTEC foundation diploma in art and design resulting in a BA (Hons) degree in Illustration in 2011. After freelancing in various sectors of illustration and graphic design my practice began returning to realms of fine art in 2014 when I re-discovered oil painting which has allowed me to expand and evolve my practice tremendously and naturally.
I am situated throughout the Channel Islands, United Kingdom and central Europe. Additionally if you would like to support me as an artist you can do so through my Patreon page.

FUSSED MAGAZINE - Dave Garraway
“He manages to get so much detail and texture into the piece that you almost take for granted that it’s a pencil illustration.”
APPLEJUICE MAGAZINE - Natalie Lloyd
“The body of work is an intelligent and well-researched discourse, but moreover, the images Cranmer has created offer a quiet sense of grandeur and simplicity, providing a delectable echo to their subject matter.”
“His Illustration style is sublimely delicate and atmospheric”.
